Introducing the Guild of St Nicholas of Bari
a new initiative of the Fraternal Society of St John the Apostle
We are incredibly excited to introduce our latest initiative, the Guild of St Nicholas of Bari!
The mission of the guild is simple: to restore the Catholic roots of Advent and the entirety of the Christmas and Epiphany seasons through Candlemas. We will do this by serving as a one stop location to learn about all of the traditions of the Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany tide seasons. We hope this will inspire you and your families to live liturgically throughout the entirety of these seasons.
As a reminder, tomorrow begins the Advent Embertide and we are in the midst of praying the O Antiphons!
We hope all of these traditions will help you in properly living out Advent and its Feast days preceding Christmas and subsequently enjoying Christmas through Candlemas. Holy Mother Church has provided us a rich liturgical year that should keep us busy enough to enjoy every season in its proper time and feel less tempted to inculturate secular and non-Catholic traditions into Catholic liturgical seasons.
This initiative would not be possible without the inspiration given by the San Leucio Society of Paterson, NJ, a site called Fisheaters which is a tremendous free resource for both existing Catholics and discerning Catholics, and our website designer, Todd Baker at Epinpost. We encourage you to do business with Todd who has been wonderful to work with and to support the Fisheaters site which survives on the generosity of its donors.
